Conkers Ride

Had a fantastic three days at Conkers in glorious weather. Our grand daughters, ages 7 and 10 cycled from Etwall to the YHA at Moira last Monday via Willington, Repton, Hartshorne and Blackfordby into the YHA in the National Forest. Weather was perfect. Stopped at The Bulls Head in Hartshorne where they serve excellent dinners for £5 95 a head. Plenty of choice and plenty of it. The following exhausting day we spent at Conkers, cycling the half mile in time for opening at 10.00 am and stayed all day. The activities at Conkers have increased dramatically since we were last there 6 years ago. Above are the children are in the 'barefoot walk' - one of the many experiences they encountered without shoes. They also managed the assault course, supposedly for teenagers and adults; frightening to watch though! Excellent value for the day at £13. 95 for all three of us with the Telegraph vouchers, although all activities are free, food and drink is expensive on site.

Meals were better value at The Navigation Pub at Overseal than the YHA. In fact, it would have been cheaper to stay B and B for 2 nights at the Pub than staying at the YHA. Cycled home on Wednesday retracing our route.
